How I've learned and grown
I feel that the Hixson program has helped me both learn and grow this semester from meeting new people to where and how to study. Being a Hixson scholar gave many perks to being a freshmen student I now know my way around campus and know how to find my buildings and landmarks on campus. also providing help on getting a tutor and also sheets to fill out when you go to get grades checked with your professor. I have learned my study type and that has helped me in achieving better grades. I feel that being a Hixson has helped me learn and grow through this program.

What the Hixson award means to me
The Hixson award means a lot to me with out it I probably would not be here at Iowa State University. My family isn't quite made of money since I am one of three kids. Its even harder being that my parents are divorced and that they don't get along that well. So I am glad that I was the recipient of the Iowa county Hixson award.
This award is making it possible for me to achieve my dreams and goals in life. In one way I have always dreamed about coming to Iowa State for a degree in Agriculture and to be educated in something that I really enjoy. Hopefully with learning from the social media assignment I will be able to take this and start networking to be able to find jobs or even new things in the agriculture area.
This award has also help me with making new friends with the people in the class, mentors and also the instructors of the class, and I cant forget yellow lightning our recitation group.
The Hixson award is a wonderful award and helps out many kids that may not of been able to attend Iowa State University. I am very great full for this award and being able to further my education at this institute

social media week
For social media week I participated in the facebook posts. I learned that companies are now using social media to get there products out and also answer questions about there products and services. and also show what is new and what they are working on. I felt like I felt like i was in the know of there products and services and that I had an inside on what new things they are doing and trying. Social media can keep me in the know and maybe also help find me a job in one of these companies.

MBTI style
Well i have learned that my MBTI is ESFP, this stands for Extraversion, Sensing, Feeling, and Perceiving. I feel that this is truly how I am. It describes me as Realistic adapter in human relationships, also friendly and easy with people, highly observant of their feelings ans needs. my strongest mental process is extraverted sensing, this is saying that i am at my best when i'm free to act on impulses, responding to needs of the here and now.
When I read this I was truly amazed as to how they could classify me into a category that actually fits my type of personality. They just about hit it right on the nose, like they say that my type values: caring kindness support appreciation trust and generosity and also performing and entertaining. these words all describe me to a T anyone that knows me could probably in one way or another vogue for me even if they didn't like me that well.

bucket list
Well I guess we all have plans for our lives if we know it or not. . . One of my major goals was to graduate high school and enter college at Iowa State University. This goal was met and now I have an all new goal set. I have heard of the study abroad opportunities here at college, I would like to do this to learn more about different farming techniques used out of the united states to see how similar they are to each other. I also plan on earning a degree from ISU.
After college I would like to go back to my grandmothers dairy farm to get it back and functioning the way it should be, because i feel that my grandfather would be disappointed in the way it has turned out. After that I would like to start up my own farm with crop ground and a cattle operation. I can see myself doing this for a long time. I would also love to travel around the world and visit the places of my ancestors.
I would like to find that special someone in my life to settle down with and have a couple children, I want to love and be loved and have love for my children and not have to put them through a divorce like i had gone through. and I just wanna grow old and live life to its fullest. . . Thats about it.

Hello fellow Hixsons!
I would have to say that one of the times I was at my best was when my parents got a divorce. Many people wouldn't think that a time like this would show how you can step up and be a leader but that is what happened with me. I was just getting ready to turn 14 and was told by my father that he had this idea of a divorce, I was told not to tell anyone, not even my mom because she had yet to be told. Well i found out that he had filed for this the same day as my birthday. This crushed me, i had no idea in how this was going to work. I decided to stay involved with my 4-H group, that year i ran for president and ended up with the position. This gave me a major leadership position having to know have to run the meeting room properly and keep order in the group of kids that were of all ages 4th-12th graders later on in that year I applied to be on the Iowa county youth council and was a representative for our club.
I had was forced to go into court over my parents divorce and to testify against my own farther. I wish that this wasn't forced upon me but it was something that just happened. Well through this I had to step up around the house helping out because my brother and sister were fairly young and didn't know how to do chores. My leadership and citizenship have both increased just because of one little thing. it has made me a better person and knowing that i feel that it has helped me get out to meet new people and socialize and build that network of people to help me out and for me to help them out if they need it. And after this situation it drives me to do my best and also want to graduate from Iowa State University with a degree witch neither of my parents completed.
